Dabbers Move Fiddle Maestroes and Feathered Friends

A very merry Christmas to you all !

Dabbers Session have a new venue at the Riflemans Pub in James Hall Street Nantwich.

Our first session  there is on Thursday 3rd December starting around 8pm-8.30pm and all acoustic, or folk musicians, singers, composers, poets, raconteurs, songwriters are welcome to join us for an informal evening of traditional and original live unplugged music and song.

Listeners are also welcome !

Dabbers Folk Club was formed over 20 years ago, and has successfully run club nights, sessions and concerts during this period. Currently it runs purely as a session for all to join in.

We would like to thank Peter and Hazel at the Oddfellows Arms where we have held many enjoyable nights, but we now have to move on to the Riflemans in order to retain our regular first Thursday of the month date.

We are looking forward to our evenings at The Riflemans' Pub who will be welcoming our December 3rd session with some seasonal refreshments included.

Copies of the latest issue of Folk North West will also be on sale there at £2, and £9 tickets for Tarporley songwriter Vin Barretts' concert on 19th December at the Nantwich Players Theatre.

Vin has made a couple of visits to Dabbers Session in the past and we look forward to more local talent dropppng by.
November brought us more orignal songs from Jonathon Tarplee from Rode Heath, and Gerd Zinsmeister from Liverpool. Zinney as he is better known also plays with Sonnenberg and their music is disributed through Proper Music.

We hope you can join us this week or in the near future and give our brand new venue a big kick off !

I would also personally appreciate your support by attending Vin's concert. I would love to see regular folk and acoustic concerts in Nantwich but this is only achieveable and affordable if you turn up regularly. I really appreciated those of you who came to see Nibs van der Spuy and hope more of you will come to see the excellent performance and creative talent of Vin Barrett.
What better Xmas gift for me to know that my regular letters are in fact not only read but acted upon !
Vin Barrett will be joined by guitarist Stu Lupton and pianist Gary O'Brien so you are in for a really good show - I know you will have a great time and Vin is bringing mince pies !
The theatre hire fee and bar proceeds will go towards the much needed Players Theatre extension. (The Players Theatre is run entirely by volunteers )

As a bonus Romazzinos Italian Restaurant which is next to the Players Theatre are doing a theatre special menu providing you produce your tickets or Pay Pal receipts on arrival and dine before the show. I suggest arriving at Romazzinos' by 6.30 at the latest.

Both the theatre and the restaurant are on the edge of a public car park accessed from Riverside.
You could really make a day and night of it in Nantwich with Xmas shopping at the Festive Farmers Market which is also held on the 19th.

So this is one date you really have to put in the diary NOW !
I would love to see you all there and please do remember to book in advance as tickets have numbered seating.

If you want an aisle seat for leg room book now.

Sunday 13th December

Serious Sam Barrett will have support from both Michael Rossiter and David Broad.

Its our now legendary creweroots Xmas staff party (ha!) and youre all invited. This promises to be a memorable night indeed. We saw Sam play the Fellfoot Sound festival in Cumbria over the summer and hes exactly right for us. Hes an accomplished Delta Blues guitarist and he reminds us of Dai Thomas (although hes in his 20s and handsome as hell). He polished his craft learning to play Robert Johnson songs at the age of 12 and he is a genuinely fascinating performer. Pop along to www.sambarrett.co.uk/sambarrett/web.nsf/wp/welcome and seek out the four free songs. These are a little dated now but his new album Close to Home is as good a record as youll hear all year.

This show will be the first creweroots triple-header. Sam will be supported by Mike Rossiter (saw him at Fellfoot too...) and David Broad. While Sam is the headliner for the night, they will each play a solo set and then finish off the night playing as a trio.

(just be careful with Davids myspace at the moment  it seems to automatically play some techno stuff that you need to switch off before you can play his songs.
